Timber and Tallow
Birchwood, oud
Smoky birch on the dry bar, then deep, resinous oud once the water hits. A hard, long-wearing bar that’s almost pure tallow, with nothing fussy about it.

Birchwood comes first, dry and a little smoky, like bark split for the fire. Work up a lather and the oud rolls in underneath, deep and resinous. It’s a woodsy scent that smells clean rather than like a campfire.
The recipe is about as simple as soap gets: tallow, with a little castor oil to keep the foam dense. A spoonful each of sugar, silk and coconut milk helps the lather, and a little charcoal adds color. This batch was our very first cold-process soap, and one fragrance oil carries the scent.
Timber and Tallow says it all: wood in the scent, tallow in the bar.
